Linda Edna Cardellini is the daughter of Lorraine (Hernan), a mother and Wayne David Cardellini (a father) and a businessman. Her parents are of Italian, German (from the paternal maternal grandmother), Irish and Scottish descent. She began her career as a British actress in Just William (2010), a British television series that aired which aired on British television. Cinderella (2015) became her first film following the time she portrayed Lady Rose MacClare (2012-2015) in Downton Abbey, a time-based drama. James was later cast as the Countess Natasha Rostova, in the television version of War & Peace, in 2016. She also appeared in a number of films. They include the action film Baby Driver (2017) and the period dramas Darkest Hour (2017) and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (2018 and 2021) and musicals Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (2018) and Yesterday (2019). Pam & Tommy, a biographical TV series that is based on the story of Pamela Anderson (released in 2022) was nominated for Golden Globe Award winner and an Primetime Emmy Award.
